Ongoing Demonstrations presented by the Leidy Microscopical Society.

"Recent Discoveries in the Late Devonian Paleoenvironments of the Catskill and Lock Haven Formations in Pennsylvania"

 

The preserved shallow marine to freshwater habitats have yielded a variety of invertebrate and vertebrate remains, both expected and unexpected.

Dr. David Broussard is an associate professor of Biology at Lycoming College in Williamsport PA. His research is focused on Late Devonian vertebrates including extinct groups of fishes and early tetrapods.

"A Franklin Primer: Mineral Collecting at Franklin and Sterling Hill, New Jersey"

Featuring New Jersey's world famous fluorescent minerals.

See the exhibit outside the Merrymac Room.

 

Bruce Mitchell is a retired geologist with over 30 years experience in the field. He is a member and the programs coordinator of the Philadelphia  Mineralogical Society and a member of the Franklin Ogdensburg Mineral Society. 
 

Saturday afternoon, we host Cub Scout and Boy Scout Geology Merit Badge workshops. Pre-registration is required with the Cradle of Liberty Scout Council.

Introducing spectacular fossil finds from northern Kenya and tracing 30 million years of Earth history.

 

Dr. Craig Feibel, geologist and professor in the Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Rutgers University, has worked in Africa more than 4 decades.
