Member Information
The Philadelphia Mineralogical Society membership year is January 1st to December 31st.
Dues paid are collected annually and apply to the calendar year.
Membership is open to all people interested in the earth sciences. Membership benefits include special insurance coverage during Society-sponsored field trips, discounts on special events and a regular informational newsletter.
As members of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (Eastern Region 3), the Philadelphia Mineralogical Society has insurance coverage for field trips that facilitates access to collection sites not normally open to the public. Attendance at the field collection trips is limited to PMS members and members of invited clubs having insurance coverage by AFMS.
The Philadelphia Mineralogical Society holds monthly meetings with programs, guest speakers, auctions, and other group activities such as show and tell. These meetings are held in person with a virtual option for those further away. Meetings are open to the public, and attendance is optional.
The meetings are on the second Thursday of every month except for July, August, and December. There are no meetings in July or August.
To celebrate the end of the year, the December meeting is a banquet featuring fun, food, a presentation, and a rock and mineral-related Pollyanna for all who wish to participate.
See News and Meeting Schedule for meeting specifics.
Visitors are invited and always welcome at our monthly meetings.
Membership is required for all field trips.
Our fiscal year runs from January 1st to December 31st.
If membership is for more than one person, the names, contact information, and signatures of each person must be given on the registration form. A parent or legal guardian must sign for all minors (under 18 years of age) listed on the registration form.
