History

In October 1892, a group of young men formed what they called “The student’s Mineralogical Club of Philadelphia.  That club, now known as the Philadelphia Mineralogical Society, is the second oldest such group in the United States.

• Sam Gordon, Curator of Mineralogy at The Academy of Natural Sciences (now of Drexel University), author and co-founder of the American Mineralogist.

• Arthur Montgomery, geologist, author.

• Harry Trudell, PMS President and co-founder of the American Mineralogist.
